With a gold medal and fabulous world record of 50.37 in the 400-metre hurdles and gold in the 4×400 metres with Team USA, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone crowned herself the athletics queen of the Olympics. After Paris, she took a well-earned break before returning to action at one more meeting: the Allianz Memorial Van Damme.<\/p>\n
The 400 metres run by McLaughlin-Levrone on Friday night was a so-called invitational race. Her time of 49.11 set the seventh-fastest time of 2024 and would have placed her first in the Wanda Diamond League final of the 400 metres, which was run later in the evening.<\/p>\n
In that race – which was won in 49.45 by Olympic Champion Marileidy Paulino – the \u2018Queen of Paris\u2019 could not take part as she had not participated in the Wanda Diamond League qualifying meets.<\/p>\n
