A few weeks later the 26 year old American favourite couldn’t make it to the Olympic 100m Final that he missed out by a few thousands of a second. Bromell can seek revenge on the fast track in Brussels and show that he is the 7th all time fastest sprinter on earth. Bromell also registered 9”80 and 9”88 this year to prove his consistency. Bromell is not a new kid on the block : in 2016 he became the 60m World Indoor Champion and in 2015 he already took 100m bronze at the World Championships in Beijing.

In Brussels Bromell faces a strong challenge from his compatriot Fred Kerley. Kerley is also in the form of his life and already set a personal best of 9”84 this year. That earned him a silver medal in the Olympic 100m, his first major success on the distance. Kerley has been competing in the 400m in recent years. He won bronze at the World Championships in Doha in 2019 in the 400m and gold with the USA in the 4x400m relay. Kerley is the 33rd Olympic medalist from Tokyo who has now signed up to compete at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme.

33 TOKYO OLYMPIC MEDALISTS IN BRUSSELS :

•
