Besides Renaud Lavillenie, the Frenchman who broke the World Pole Vault Record of the legendary Sergey Bubka this winter (6.16m), the world\u2019s best High Jumpers have now signed up to compete in Brussels.<\/p>\n
A true High Jump Clash is expected between reigning Olympic Champion Ivan Ukhov and reigning World Champion Bogdan Bondarenko. Considering what they have shown in the past years and months insiders believe that one of the oldest World Records in Athletics (Javier Sotomayor from Cuba, 2.45m in 1993) is really in danger this year.<\/p>\n
Ivan Ukhov from Russia has already a strong performance record since he became the World Junior Champion and World Junior Record holder in 2005. He succeeded to become the 2012 Olympic Champion in London. At his first competition this year in Doha Ukhov managed to jump 2.41m !<\/p>\n
Bogdan Bondarenko from the Ukraine is also a former World Junior Champion (2008). In 2013 Bondarenko in no less than 10 competitions crossed bars of 2.30m and higher. He also became the World High Jump Champion in a breathtaking competition in Moscow. The leading American magazine USA Track and Field even honored Bondarenko as the \u201cAthlete of the Year 2013\u201d ahead of \u2026 Usain Bolt !<\/p>\n
