Munana Gatera, the art heptathlonist
For the first time in the meeting’s history the painting is made by an African artist. Munan Gatera was born in Ruanda on March, 12th 1974. He arrived in Belgium at the age of 13, first in Beauraing and then in Aywaille but he now lives and works in St Gilles (Brussels).
Thousand Hills of Hope
It is no coincidence that a painter from Ruanda was approached. The Memorial wants to put Ruanda in the spotlights with the new charity project “Thousand Hills of Hope”, represented by Imana Truyers.

At the occasion of the presentation of the 41st AG Insurance Memorial Van Damme Meeting Director Wilfried Meert announced that he hands the baton to Cédric Van Branteghem.
A long build up to the AG Memorial Van Damme
Officially the 41st AG Insurance Memorial Van Damme will be launched on Sunday, April 9th in the King Baudouin Stadium at the occasion of the Brussels 10K. In 2017 the successful series of AG Urban Memorial Van Damme that brings the sports close to the people will also be held throughout the country.
AG Insurance extends partnerschap with Memorial Van Damme until 2018
AG Insurance and the Memorial Van Damme unite their forces since 2014 for the organization of one of the most prestigious events of the country. This partnerships has been continued through to 2017 and 2018. It is an important step in the sponsoring strategy of AG Insurance.
