World Record holder Mondo Duplantis confirms to compete in Allianz Memorial Van Damme

Mondo Duplantis is without any doubt the most appealing athlete on the athletics circuit these days. The Allianz Memorial Van Damme is proud to announce that Duplantis has signed to compete in Brussels. The 21 year old Swede, Pole Vault World Record Holder, was named Athlete of the Year by World Athletics. The best Belgian vaulter Ben Broeders will equally be part of the field on Sep.,3rd in the King Baudouin Stadium.

Duplantis and Broeders are the 1 and 2 finishers at the Brussels DL in 2020. The Swede set a new Meeting Record of 6,00m, Broeders crossed a bar at 5,70m. In 2021 they are both targeting more imaginative heights. Broeders is the national record holder with 5,80m while Duplantis set an outdoor World Record of 6,15m in Rome last year.

Duplantis has already shown good form this year. Last month he sailed over 6,10m in Hengelo (NED). Broeders has a seasonal best of 5,70m, set in Zweibrücken (GER) recently.

The Pole Vault is traditionally one of the highlights at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme. Living legends such as Sergey Bubka and Renaud Lavillenie held meeting records in Brussels in the past.
