Renaud Lavillenie, Gold in Beijing, followed by a 6m jump in Brussels?

One week before he celebrates his 29th Birthday Renaud Lavillenie will again be present at the AG Insurance Memorial Van Damme.

The French Pole Vaulter has been performing remarkably consistent this winter. He crossed bars at 6m and beyond in no less than 5 different competitions : 6.00m in Rouen, 6.01m in Aubière and in Nevers, 6.02m in Berlin and finally 6.04m in Prague to become the European Indoor Champion.

Lavillenie has collected almost as many titles now as did his big idol Sergej Bubka. Also he broke Bubka’s Pole Vault World Record last year : 

– Olympic Gold Medal Winner in London 2012 
– World Indoor Champion in 2012 
– European Champion in 2010, 2012 and 2014 
– European Indoor Champion in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015.

World Champion in Athletics is the only global title that Lavillenie hasn’t won yet. That is the one he is aiming to conquer in Beijing at the end of August. 11 days later Lavillenie will compete in the King Baudouinstadium in Brussels where he targets a 6m-jump. No athlete has ever jumped that height in Brussels, not even his idol Bubka…
