Former hurdler Patrick Van Craenenbroeck designs winner trophy

Patrick Van Craenenbroeck, a former hurdles athlete, has designed this year’s winner of the Memorial trophy.

"I’ve been a junior Belgian champion in the 400m hurdles Patrick said. Later on I won another title in the category ‘seniors B’, which no longer exists."

"I was coached by the late Wilfried Geeroms, who for many years was the stadium speaker at the Memorial. however, a serious injury, from a wrong triple jump, ended my sports career prematurely."

Patrick Van Craenenbroeck then devoted himself to his other great passion, sculpting, and with success. His imposing, powerful images now adorn many public squares and gardens of houses or collectors. They breathe a primal force, the sacred fire of the warrior or… athlete?

Patrick Van Craenenbroeck already exhibited at home and abroad (a.o. Barcelona, Rome, Paris and Berlin).
