Two day Memorial figures as Diamond League Final. All World Class athletes are heading for Brussels !

The 48th Allianz Memorial Van Damme, on Friday Sep., 13th and Saturday Sep., 14th in the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels presents itself as the most special edition ever. For the first time in its history, the meeting will be held in two days and for the first time all 16 events for Men and Women in the Wanda Diamond League will be held in Brussels. Being the Final of the Wanda Diamond League means that all the best athletes of the current season will be on the infield. Most of the Olympic Medal Winners will be on the Startlists and the participation of 6 actual World Champions is already confirmed.

It is not the first time that the Allianz Memorial Van Damme hosts the Wanda Diamond League Final, which is the culminating stage of the biggest track meetings in the world. “Between 2010 and 2019 the Memorial Van Damme was already the Diamond League Final, then spread across two different venues,” says Meeting Director Kim Gevaert. “Now all events – 16 Men’s and 16 Women’s will be staged in Brussels, as will be the case in 2026.”

To qualify for this Final, athletes have to earn points in 14 Diamond League meetings that are organised on different continents. The Top 6 in the Field Events, the Top 8 in the 100m to 800m and the Top 10 in the 1500m and longer distances automatically qualify for the Final in Brussels.

“We expect the best athletes in the World in every event to be on the Startlists”, says Kim Gevaert. “That’s what the Final is all about. Our meeting is just four weeks after the Olympics in Paris. Belgian fans will be able to watch most of the Medal winners from Paris in action. The Olympic vibe will be in the stadium, as well for the athletes as for the spectators.”

On top of that, the Allianz Memorial Van Damme has already secured the presence of 6 reigning World Champions : Swedish World Record holder Mondo Duplantis (Pole Vault), Ukrainian High Jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Norvegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen (5000m), Kenyans Winfred Yavi (3000m Steeplechase) and Mary Moraa (800m).
