400m Women National Race added to the program

Team Belgium performed in excellent fashion in the 4 x 400m Relay events at the European Championships. The Men’s team won a European silver medal, after having taken bronze at the World Championships. The Women’s 4 x 400m team from Belgium surprisingly finished fourth in Munich and set a new National Record. The “Belgian Cheetahs” as they are known, now get the occasion to compete in the pre program of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme.

“There is a 400m Women Diamond Race in our program. We assigned a wildcard for that race to Cynthia Bolingo, who finished 4th in the individual event in Munich”, clarifies Meeting Diector Kim Gevaert. “It would be a sin not to give all the other “Cheetahs” the opportunity to race at this 46th Allianz Memorial Van Damme. Therefore we add this event to the pre program as well.

Julien Watrin, member of the Belgian 4 x 400m team (the “Belgian Tornadoes”) finished 6th in the individual 400m Hurdles at the European Championships. Watrin will compete in the Diamond 400m Hurdles Race. The other Belgian Tornadoes line up in a National Race, alongside some interesting international athletes.
