‘High level’ Triple Jumping in the snow

In the ski resort Tignes in France a very unusual athletics event was held. Christian Taylor and Will Claye triple jumped up high in the Alpine mountains. The World Championships gold and silver medal winners will also be present at the AG Memorial Van Damme.

6 Long Jumpers and 6 Triple Jumpers went up high to compete at the Grande Motte gletsjer at 3000m. Heavy winds were very disturbing and ruled out real world class performances.
3000 fans went along with the athletes to watch them compete amongst the snow. Will Claye won the Triple Jump with 17.42m in his last attempt, while Christian Taylor was second with 16.99m.
Both look to be ready for a great duel in the diamond League final on Sep. 1st in the King Baudouin Stadium.
