World Champion Gudzius at Memorial!

On Saturday the Men’s Discus Throw Final took place at the London WC. Unfortunately our Belgian compatriot Philip Milanov couldn’t qualify.

The difference between gold and silver in the Discus Throw was hardly 3 centimeter. The 26 year old Andrius Gudzius from Lithuania threw his discus 69,21m, just a little bit ahead of Daniel Stahl from sweden (69,19m) and won the gold. The bronze medal went to Mason Finley from the USA who set a new personal best of 68,03m.

Reigning World Champion Piotr Malachowski finished only in 5th place with a 65,24m effort, just ahead of German Robert Harting (65,10m).

The Diamond League Final offers a rematch between Stahl and Gudzius who will both compete on Sep. 1st in Brussels.

FOUR FINALS

Tonight the women battle for medals in the Pole Vault and in the 100m. The Heptathlon will also terminate tonight. Thiam has good chances while standing 2nd after the first day. Another World Champion will be crowned in the Men’s Shot Put.
