Triathlon with Thomas Van der Plaetsen at Memorial

For the first time in the history of the AG Memorial Van Damme a combined event is on the meeting program. A triathlon with Shot Put, Long Jump and 110m Hurdles will be held. Thomas Van der Plaetsen and Niels Pittomvils will face a selection of international multiple eventers.

The triathlon starts on Thursday with the Shot Put. It will take place on the same time and the same place as the Diamond Race Final at Place de la Monnaie in the city centre of Brussels. On Friday the Long Jump and the 110m Hurdles will get their spot in the main program of the Diamond League Final in the King Baudouin Stadium.

“It is a unique opportunity for decathletes to show up in a IAAF Diamond League meeting”, says meeting director Cédric Van Branteghem. “On top of that it allows us to celebrate the European title that Thomas won in Amsterdam last year.”
