’42|54’ refers to the time Elodie and Olivia ran together with Hanna Mariën and Kim Gevaert in the 4×100 metre final at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Several athletes, including Natasha Hastings, Jeneba Tarmoh, Inika McPherson and Jolien Boumkwo, former athletes and professional models showed the sportive collection on Wednesday night to a host of luminaries including IAAF Chairman Sebastian Coe.
The name ’42|54’ has a special, golden meaning. Last month it was revealed that time was actually worth a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics, rather than silver. One of the athletes of the winning Russian team tested positive after retesting 2008 samples. That means the Belgian relay team will be trading in its silver medal for a gold one. That will happen on Friday night during an official ceremony at the AG Insurance Memorial Van Damme in the King Baudouin Stadium of Brussels.
