The young stars from tomorrow will again get their unique opportunity to compete in the King Baudouinstadium just hours before their international idols enter the arena of the final of the IAAF Diamond League. The AG Insurance Youth Memorial Van Damme is an Under 18 competition (YOB 1997 and 1998) that will be part of the pre program of the biggest athletics event in Belgium.
Events* :
Boys : 100m, 400m, 1000m, 4 x 100m
Girls : 100m, 1000m, High Jump**, 4 x 100m
* Qualifying based on 800m and 1500m performances, converted in IAAF Scoring Table of Athletics.
** Maximum 7 attempts throughout the competition ( max. 3 attempts at every height).
Number of athletes qualified:
High Jump : 6
100m, 400m : 8
4 x 100m : 8 teams
1000m : 16
Qualifying will be decided by the Royal Belgian Athletics Federation, according to the following rules:
Will be selected on Monday August, 25 (performances until August, 24):
8 relay teams (final selection)
12 athletes in the 1000m
6 athletes in the 100m and 400m
4 athletes in the High Jump
Additional selection on Monday September, 1 (after NC Under 16 and Under 18) :
The best two performers at the NC U16-18 in the 100m, 400m and High Jump.
The best two performers at the NC U16 and U18 in the 800m and the 1500m.
