Bolt wants revenge on the Memorial for missing out on Worlds 100m

At the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme, Usain Bolt will run the 100 meters! The Jamaican world record holder wants a second chance after missing out on the finals at the World Championships in Daegu.

Earlier this month Bolt confirmed that he will join the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme on 16 September. At that point he mainly eyed the 200m, one of the Diamond League finals run in Brussels. But his false start and elimination at the 100m at the Worlds have made the sprint icon change his mind.

"Usain is really keen on running the 100 meters," Memorial organiser Wilfried Meert said in Daegu. "He definitely wants a best year performance on that distance (the current WYB is 9’78" by Asafa Powell in Lausanne). His coach Glen Mills has asked me whether it would be possible at our event. Bolt knows that we have a very fast track at the King Baudouin Stadium. For him, we gladyl add a 100 meters event to our program. And you bet that Bolt will flash! "
